the Presence of God" Representational mixed media painting of the interior of the B’er Chayim Temple located at 107 Union Street in historic Cumberland, Maryland. The B’er Chayim Congregation was founded in 1853. The building was built in 1867 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The congregation is the sixth oldest Reform Congregation in America and the building is the oldest continuously operating Temple in the state of Maryland. B’er Chayim is Hebrew for “Well of Life”.
