Representational painting of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church located at 16 Washington Street in historic Cumberland, Maryland. Built in 1849 on the site of Fort Cumberland, the church is built over a series of trenches. Visitors can walk through the tunnels still in existence beneath the church. The church was designed by well-known Philadelphia architect John Notman and is modeled after St. Paul's Church in Brighton, England. It is touted as one of Maryland's most outstanding examples of early Gothic Revival architecture. The church is on the National Register of Historic Places. | ||
