If you would like to be informed of when my next watercolor class is, send me an email.
To give you an
idea of my teaching philosophy, below is one of my handouts for the
first night of my watercolor painting class:
|
Welcome to
the world of watercolor! For many of you, this is a first time experience.
My hope and expectation is that it will be a very positive one. I remember
the first watercolor class I attended. Even though I had years of
experience dabbling in art, I was still intimidated and nervous about
attending my first class. I imagined that everyone else in the class had
lots of talent and knew more than I did. That didn’t turn out to be the
case and, looking back on it now, even if it were the case what difference
did it make? I paint for fun, not to compare myself to others. Throughout the class we will be exploring the basics of watercolor including materials, techniques, color, value and composition. I will be focusing on the enjoyment of painting. For me, painting is a relaxing, even meditative, experience. While we will be learning formal art and watercolor theory, I will be focusing on making the experience inspirational and fun. This is essential to fostering creativity. There is only
one rule in this class. No negativity is allowed. My approach to
art is to use it to reflect on the good and beautiful things in life.
My reason for teaching this class is to share the rewards of that approach
with others. As such, I appreciate your help in keeping the atmosphere
of this class a positive and supportive one. |
